Stockton Dispensary Permit

Counsel for the City of Stockton quickly recognized that the City Attorney’s position was in conflict with the City Charter. Chris Hester’s permit was restored.

Majorities of the the Stockton Planning Commission and City Council approved Chris Hester’s application for the last of four cannabis dispensary permits that would be issued by the city. But, the Stockton City Attorney interpreted a code section to say that the permits could only be issued by a super majority. This meant that Hester would be denied his permit and that a competitor in line behind him would be opening a dispensary instead.

After the City rejected Rob’s efforts to amicably restore Hester’s permit approvals, he sought relief in the San Joaquin Superior Court. Counsel for the City of Stockton quickly recognized that the City Attorney’s position was in conflict with the City Charter. Chris Hester’s permit was restored.
