Oakland can no longer plant trees or build gardens. But we can.

Oaklandside reported that the volunteer organization I founded, and others, are stepping into to fill the void left when Oakland stopped planting trees in 2008. 275 acres of canopy was lost between 2014-2020, but, with modest resources, it can be recovered. Trees are a cost-effective way to improve quality of life and give residents hope at a time when the City is suffering.
