Rob founded Selna Partners Law after his first career as a newspaper reporter at the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and other publications, and then as a partner at a large law firm. In starting his own firm, Rob pursued his interests in real estate law, land use, environmental and municipal affairs.
In developing a law practice, Rob built on his experience with local and state government. Client businesses include real estate and highly-regulated industries that rely on permits and licenses, including logistics, liquor, and cannabis. This background is also central to Rob’s extensive community work.
Community relationships are important to Rob. He has held many civic leadership roles, including currently serving as General Counsel for the Oakland Builders Alliance, and formerly on the Oakland Parks and Recreation Commission. In 2014, Rob founded, and now co-directs Sidewalk Trees & Gardens, which converts abandoned public spaces into gardens and plants trees in high need areas.
National and local media frequently quote Rob on real estate and urban environmental issues, and he speaks at national and international forums.
